Informal settlers living along Symphony Way in Delft have warned political parties not to try and campaign in the area for their votes.
Residents told Eyewitness News on Wednesday they had grown disillusioned with election promises and were not planning to vote in the April polls.
The more than 300 people have been squatting in the area since February 2008 when they were evicted from N2 Gateway houses in the area.
They illegally occupied the homes in December 2007 after being encouraged to do so by Democratic Alliance councillor Frank Martin.
One resident warned if their grievances were not addressed, protests and road blockades could be expected.
The Western Cape Housing department said the group is on its housing waiting list.
The housing backlog in the province is estimated at more than 300 000 units.
