Symphony Way pavement dwellers in Delft have vowed to fight their impending eviction to the bitter end.

The squatters have been living along Symphony Way for over a year.

They were kicked out of homes they had illegally occupied in December 2007 in Delft.

The Western Cape High Court on Wednesday stopped short of granting the city an eviction order.

The Court gave the parties nine days to consult with one another regarding the families’ relocation to Blikkiesdorp.

Symphony Way community leader Ashraf Cassiem said they would do everything in their power to reach an amicable solution.

“We are not blind, we are poor we are not stupid. Now it just motivates us to work harder, because now we have a limited amount of time. We will do what we have to. The community will guide us.”
