The Gugulethu Anti-Eviction Campaign will again be protesting against the management of the new Gugulethu Square Mall. Two weeks ago, the community handed over a memorandum to the manager of the Gugulethu Mall, with a promise by the manager to respond after she’d read it. The community who had not received any response to date, now says they are now no longer demanding that 80% of the jobs at the mall be given to residents of Gugulethu, but that all of the jobs are given to the local Gugulethu residents.

The further demands from the community includes the removal of the councilors and development forum from the job allocation process and that the police must refrain from using violence against them when protesting peacefully.
