Abahlali baseMjondolo to Launch Another New Branch

Despite all the hardship currently faced by Abahlali baseMjondolo and in shack settlements all over Durban the movement will be launching another new branch in Siyanda at Section B. The community is tired of the empty promises by the municipality and the negligences of the Department of Housing which delays the process of access to adequate houses. The fact that the community is waiting for houses doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be provided with the basic infrastructures like water, toilets, electricity etc while they wait. Construction work on houses in the Siyanda informal settlement in Newlands East was stopped yesterday after angry residents demanded that they be given jobs by the construction company spearheading the project.
